5 tricks to keep yourself cooking healthy meals, even when it sucks

Do you ever get frustrated by the amount of time it takes to chop vegetables… then cook a meal… then clean up?

Not to mention the time to find good recipes… plan out your week’s meals… check if you have the ingredients… go shopping for what you need…

It is tiring! It can be hard to stay motivated to stick with this, when you could so easily go back to buying frozen pizzas or burritos.

Not many people know this about me, but I don’t actually like cooking! Now everyone knows… oops…

Here’s the deal – I LOVE making healthy food for myself – but I don’t like the whole time-intensive process I described there.

So I have tricks, that help me get through the parts that suck so that I can enjoy the magical benefits of healthy eating.

There is so much power in saying to yourself…

That sucked, but I did it anyway, because I’m awesome

We say it all the time in terms of fitness – the challenging part is when your body is getting the most benefit – but for some reason we expect healthy eating and cooking to come easily and effortlessly.

And while it can be easy after doing it for a long time, there is definitely a transition period, and even now there are days when I just don’t feel like cooking. No shame in that.

In the video, I share 5 of those tricks, plus a high-level bonus thought to grow beyond the “tricks” – because we need both the practical and the inspirational to move forward in a meaningful way.

Three Go-To Meals

These are three of the meals I turn to when I want to throw something together for myself without having to plan or think at all. They can just happen.

Fun Meals

These are some of my favorites for having a fun night – usually with build your own toppings so everyone can play a bit.

If you take the time to learn how to cook, and understand the process behind the recipes, you can start to improvise off standard recipes to suit your tastes – and maybe even start cooking without having to use a recipe at all!

Taking an online cooking course was the point that I finally figured out how to enjoy cooking – and avoid frustrations, kitchen disasters, disappointments and embarrassments.
